Influenza (Flu) and H1N1 (Swine Flu) Update

We have received the Flu Shot and will be offering the vaccine starting the first week of October on a first come first serve basis. We will have an early morning Flu clinic on October 5th – October 9th from 6 am to 8 am. We recommend waiting until October to receive your Flu vaccine so you have optimal protection against the Flu virus. Once you have received the Flu shot it takes 1 month to become fully protected against the virus and the protection period lasts approximately 6 – 8 months. The peak Flu season is in February, so getting the vaccine in October will protect you during the peak flu season.

Also the Swine Flu (H1N1) vaccine is currently not available to private practices. The CDC recommends young children, pregnant women, health care workers and caretakers of children 6 months through 4 years of age, and children 5 through 18 years of age who have chronic medical conditions receive the Swine (H1N1) vaccine. If you meet any of these criteria’s we recommend calling your local County Health Department for questions on how to receive the vaccine.
